This free webinar for foster carers will be looking at the different stages of the developing identity of a teenager. We explore the specific situation of adopted and fostered teenagers, we look at life story work, the importance of social connections and contact. Finally, we think about how parents and carers can best support teenagers through these turbulent times.  

 

  

This webinar will include: 

  • Understand Identity Development – Explain the different stages of identity formation during adolescence and the factors influencing it.  

 

  • Recognise the Needs of Adopted and Fostered Teenagers – Identify the emotional, psychological, and social challenges these teenagers face in their identity development. 

 

  • Life Story Work – Utilise life story work techniques to help teenagers process their experiences and strengthen their self-awareness. 

 

  • Assess the Importance of Social Connections – Analyse how peer relationships, family interactions, and community support impact a teenager’s evolving identity. 

 

  • Provide Effective Support – Implement strategies for fostering resilience, emotional security, and positive self-esteem in teenagers.
