Pamela Graham joins as new Country Director in Scotland

The Fostering Network is delighted to announce the appointment of Pamela Graham as our new Country Director in Scotland.

Pamela brings with her more than 25 years’ experience in the voluntary sector and a long-standing commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with care experience.

Pamela has dedicated her career to ensuring that young people moving on from care have equitable opportunities to thrive and achieve their ambitions. Working alongside young people, practitioners and decision-makers, she has consistently advocated for approaches that place relationships, participation and lived experience at the very heart of service design and delivery.

She previously worked at Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum (STAF) where she held a number of senior leadership roles, championing the rights, participation and aspirations of young people moving on from care.  She worked collaboratively across the sector to influence policy, shape practice and drive meaningful systems change.

Central to Pamela's leadership philosophy is a fierce belief that the people who care for and support children and young people must themselves be supported, valued and cared for.

"As I move from my role at STAF to The Fostering Network, I bring with me the values that have shaped my career: a commitment to listening to and acting upon the voices of children and young people, a belief that every young person deserves equitable opportunities to thrive, and an understanding that those who care for others also need to be supported and valued.

“I know that foster carers provide extraordinary love, stability and advocacy for children every single day. To enable them to continue offering that care, we must ensure they feel valued, supported and equipped to meet the needs of the children and young people in their homes.

“I also believe deeply that the workforce surrounding children, young people and families needs to be nurtured and sustained. When the people who care for others experience compassion, support and belonging themselves, they are better able to build the trusting relationships that help children thrive.

“I look forward to building on The Fostering Network's strong foundations and working collaboratively with foster carers, colleagues, partners, children and young people to influence change. Together we can create a foster care system where every child, every foster family and every professional supporting them can flourish."
