This course provides male carers with a perspective on their role in the care of looked after children.

Aims and objectives:

  • Consider the role of men in fostering, especially in working with children and young people who are in care and the impact this has on protective care.
  • Explore some of the challenges male foster carers may face, including the need to confront discrimination in practice
  • Reflect on the emotions that working with children in care can arouse.
  • Encourage one another in our roles as male foster carers.
