Aim of this course
To equip foster carers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to maintain accurate, child-centred records, respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and significant incidents, and fulfil their legal, ethical, and data protection responsibilities in promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

- Explain why accurate record keeping is essential for safeguarding and supporting children and young people.
- Understand their legal, ethical, and data protection responsibilities when creating, storing, and sharing records.
- Record information in a clear, factual, and child-centred way.
- Respond appropriately to disclosures, safeguarding concerns, and significant incidents.
- Follow procedures for reporting and recording serious concerns in accordance with legislation and organisational requirements.
- Demonstrate good practice in the secure storage and management of records.
- Use effective communication skills to support professional and safeguarding responsibilities.
